On 13 July 2026, AFRICOM announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between US Africa Command and Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces at AFRICOM Headquarters, establishing the Africa Multidomain Training and Experimentation Center (AMTEC) in Morocco.

The center, expected to become operational by 2030 in Tan-Tan, will include a multidomain training area, a drone academy and an innovation and experimentation facility focused on testing emerging technologies and scalable defense solutions.
